Late Summer Variety
Almost Blackberry
A rich, close approximation of the fruit it is inspired by.
Almost Blackberry is dark, serious, and faintly wild. It is the preserve for a long afternoon in autumn, paired with a sharp cheese and a glass of something red. The flavor is unapologetic and nearly indistinguishable from the brambled original, at least once the lights are dimmed.
(Please consult the ingredient list on the jar before consumption. We are required to mention this. We mention it warmly.)Tasting note
On the spoon.
Dark and brambled, with a subtle wildness and the slow, resinous finish of ripe late-summer fruit.
Pairs quietly with
- Aged manchego
- Rustic seeded loaf
- Pork tenderloin glaze
- Dark chocolate tart
Ingredients.
Sugar, corn syrup solids, microcrystalline cellulose, charred oak extract, FD&C Violet #1, industrial pectin substitute, citric acid, a ceremonial spoonful of blackberry juice, and, we are told, at least one blackberry (unverified).
Naturally gluten-free. Contains no animal-derived ingredients. Produced in a kitchen that also handles tree nuts and dairy.

Classic Thumbprint Cookies
Tender shortbread with a jewel of Almost Raspberry at the center. A tin of these keeps for a week, though we suspect it never will.
